Najib Asaddok is an entrepreneur from Pontian, Johor, who is making waves in digital marketing. As the founder of Momentum Internet Sdn Bhd, he’s helped thousands of entrepreneurs and small businesses skyrocket their sales through online strategies, training over 85,000 participants and guiding many to million-ringgit revenues.

He’s also a great role model for others as he has faced great challenges early in life – losing his father at 11 and supporting his family through small businesses such as selling peanuts and running a cyber café.

Not content with just running his own show, Najib’s also chasing a Doctor of Business Administration at OUM. He kicked off this academic journey in 2021, right in the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, and now he’s deep into his thesis, diving into how Gen-Z engages with digital marketing.

Why OUM? “It’s flexible, and the lecturers are top-notch,” Najib, 42, says. “They’re genuinely dedicated and make studying so much easier.”

He was initially nervous about doctorate-level work but Assoc Prof Dr Rozeman Abu Hassan, the Director of Simpang Renggam Learning Centre, gave him the nudge he needed: “It’s not as tough as it seems.” That encouragement, paired with Najib’s grit, got him hooked.

Before this, Najib earned an MBA from Anglia Ruskin University in 2019 and sharpened his skills with courses at Kellogg University and global summits like the Traffic & Conversion Summit in San Diego. His entrepreneurial journey started young, selling everything from engine oil to health products while studying.

In 2014, he launched Momentum Internet Sdn Bhd, which now offers services like social media management, email marketing, and web development. He’s also a prolific author, with six books on digital marketing and entrepreneurship, including Roket Emel and Buat Jer.

His passion for knowledge drives him to innovate, ensuring he stays ahead in the fast-changing digital landscape. He’s received accolades like the Marketing 2.0 Outstanding Leadership Award in Dubai in 2022 for his contributions.

When it came to his thesis, Najib felt a bit overwhelmed at first. Then he was paired with an incredibly supportive supervisor. “Prof Dr Mohd Nazri Mohd Noor has been so helpful, I’m now really excited to finish my work,” he says with a smile.

Najib’s got some solid advice for other entrepreneurs: “You need to further your studies. It will open your mind to the business world from the academic perspective, and your new qualifications will earn you more respect.”

His tip for anyone facing a big challenge? “It might feel daunting, but if you show up, attend classes, and do what’s needed, it becomes much more manageable.”
