Laughter and chatter filled the air as 100 pupils from five schools gathered at SK Berapit in Sg Petani, Kedah, on 11 October. Dressed in bright “Learning is Fun” t-shirts, the children raced from one game to another – solving puzzles, experimenting with science, and learning English in ways that felt more like play than study.
The “Learning is Fun” programme aimed to show that Maths, Science, and English can be exciting when taught creatively. The pupils, from Years 4 to 6, came from SK Berapit, SK Tikam Batu, SK Darulaman, SK Seri Kuala, and SK Bakar Arang.
Guided by OUM’s experienced academics, ordinary lessons came alive through games, demonstrations, and hands-on challenges. Teachers joined in too, taking part in AI and digital workshops to boost their tech skills for the classroom.
According to OUM Registrar and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Assoc Prof Dr Tuan Fatma Tuan Sulaiman, the event reflected OUM’s silver jubilee theme, 25 Years of Humanising Digital Education.
“We believe digital education should be fun and accessible for everyone. Through ‘Learning is Fun’, pupils gain new knowledge while teachers learn to adapt to today’s digital transformation,” she said.
With smiles all around and lessons that stuck, “Learning is Fun” lived up to its name. OUM plans to bring the programme to more schools nationwide, spreading the joy of learning, one classroom at a time.
