METEOR Club: Staff Unite for Inaugural METEOR FC Football Match

by Mr Nur Bakri bin Abd Hamid

What happens when staff from across METEOR – from departments, faculties, and learning centres as far as Melaka – gather under Friday night lights? Something memorable.

On 4 July, at Elmina Lakeside Turf in Shah Alam, METEOR FC made its debut in a friendly match against Triandra FC. Organised by the METEOR Club, this wasn’t just about football – it was about connection, wellness, and team spirit.

The evening was made more meaningful by the presence of En. Bani Zainal Azmian, METEOR’s Chief People & Culture, who came to support the team and reinforce the organisation’s commitment to people and culture.

From the first whistle, the energy was high. Sharp passes, quick tackles, bursts of laughter – whether seasoned or new to the game, everyone played with heart. The match reflected METEOR FC’s values: teamwork, professionalism, integrity, and joy.

Triandra FC proved to be a strong opponent, challenging METEOR FC in all five sets. METEOR FC lost three, drew one, and won one. But more than results, the match was about building a culture of togetherness and having fun together.

Staff travelled from Cyberjaya, Bangi, Setapak, Bukit Beruntung, Shah Alam, Gombak, Ampang, Puchong, Petaling Jaya and beyond – a true show of commitment. The 9pm start allowed everyone to step away from work, unwind, and connect through sport. Playing under the floodlights brought a sense of release and renewal.

After the match ended at 11pm, En. Bani presented tokens of appreciation to Triandra FC — a simple gesture to honour their sporting spirit and shared experience.

METEOR FC is more than a football club. It’s a platform for connection and wellbeing – where colleagues become teammates, and where shared moments build a stronger community.

Here’s to more games, more goals, and more reasons to say: See you on the pitch.
