About the Programme
Political science is not just about studying politics – it’s about understanding people, systems, and the forces that shape our world. The Bachelor of Political Science (BPS) helps you make sense of governance, public policy, leadership, and global affairs. If you want to be, or already are, a civil servant, corporate professional, community leader, or simply curious about how things work behind the scenes, this programme offers the knowledge and skills to make a difference. It is both MQA-accredited and recognised by the Public Service Department (JPA).
What You Will Learn
You’ll explore political theory, international relations, political economy, and public policy. The curriculum blends academic depth with real-world relevance, helping you strengthen your critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and communication skills. Along the way, you’ll take on case studies, research projects, and interactive discussions that bring learning to life.
Flexible Learning for Working Adults
The programme spans 14 semesters (about 4.5 years). You’ll study online at your own pace, with access to tutorials and support from academic staff. You may also be eligible for up to 30% credit transfer through the APEL.C system if you have relevant work experience or prior qualifications.
Career Opportunities
After graduating, you can go on to build a meaningful career in politics, public administration, policy research, corporate communications, NGOs, or international organisations. You can become a policy analyst, political consultant, public relations officer, or administrative executive. The skills you will gain are versatile and highly valued across sectors.
Relevant to Malaysian Society
In the context of our country’s evolving social and political landscape, the BPS programme is especially relevant. It equips students to understand and address key national issues like policy reform, social justice, and international diplomacy – all while promoting informed, responsible leadership. Ultimately, the BPS is more than just a degree. It helps you become an informed, responsible citizen who can take part in important decisions, shape policies, and make a positive difference in your community and beyond.
Who Can Apply
The programme is open to school leavers, diploma holders, and working adults via standard or APEL.A entry. If you have the passion but not the paper qualifications, APEL gives you a chance to enrol based on your experience.
