The Kazakh Connection
Salemetsiz be (Hello!)!
A delegation led by Prof Dr Ahmad Izanee Awang (our President/VC), embarked on a ground-breaking mission to the Central Asian nation of Kazakhstan in mid-April.
He was accompanied by Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Tajudin Md Ninggal (VP/Deputy VC – Academic & Research), and Yeong Chooi May (Head, International Partnership Unit). Their quest? To introduce OUM’s innovative brand of education and pave the way for its programmes to be officially recognised in Kazakhstan.
Their whirlwind journey took them to the heart of academia in Kazakhstan, connecting with three universities.
First, they met with leaders from the International Information Technology University (IITU) in the bustling city of Almaty. An exciting Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was discussed and scheduled to be signed mid-May, marking a momentous first step in collaboration.
Next, the team travelled to the Kazakh capital, Astana, where they met with key figures at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. This vital meeting, facilitated by the ever-supportive Malaysian Embassy, opened doors for future recognition of OUM’s programmes.
The delegation then visited ESIL University (ESU), where they explored a TikTok studio. Discussions with the university’s Rector, Vice Rector, and Head of International Department were fruitful, paving the way for a promising MoU.
Their final stop was the Eurasian National University (ENU), where insightful discussions explored the potential for a partnership. The team’s interaction with a Vice-Rector, Directors, Deputy Director, and Dean solidified their belief in the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.
This Kazakh expedition wasn’t just a trip, it’s part of OUM’s commitment to expanding its reach and revolutionising education on a global scale. With MoUs on the horizon and doors wide open, the future of OUM in Kazakhstan shines bright!
