Unveiling OUM’s Strategic Research Alliances
OUM has launched a new initiative for its academics – strategic research alliances. It emerged from a dynamic retreat held in Melaka from 1 to 3 December last year, where 30 academics active in research and publications brainstormed to shape the future of research at OUM.
The retreat culminated in the formation of four research alliances: Technology Integration and Innovation; Sustainable and Inclusive Education; Quality Education; and Health, Well-Being, Spiritual, and Environmental Sustainability. These alliances seek to address pressing societal challenges through collaborative research efforts.
The research alliances have five sub-research groups each, tasked with exploring specific facets of the broader themes. The 20 sub-research groups for this year are as follows:
What makes these alliances truly ground-breaking is their cross-disciplinary nature. Gone are the days of siloed research, as faculty members are encouraged to collaborate across faculties. This approach not only enriches the research landscape but also reflects OUM’s commitment to holistic education and problem-solving.
At the helm of each research alliance is a leader who guides the group to achieve important goals. As the university is making sure that all academics take part in at least one research group, every academic will be involved in projects throughout 2024.
Ultimately, the strategic research alliances bring forth a new era of coming up with new ideas, working together, and making a real difference.
