BMHS Triumphs at Event for Medical Assistants
By Nurhan Norris Ma
Students and alumni from the Bachelor of Medical and Health Sciences (BMHS) programme, under the Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences, joined me in participating in the recently concluded Medical Assistants Day, Education Seminar and Student Congress held in Putrajaya from March 9 to 10.
The event was graced by our Deputy Minister of Health, YB Dato’ Lukanisman Awang Sauni. In touching recognition of the contributions of medical assistants since 1786, the date March 10 was officially designated as Medical Assistant Day for our country.
OUM gained much recognition at the event. For a start, Mohamad Zul Amree Hamzah, an alumnus from our Kota Kinabalu Learning Centre, won the competition to create a theme for the event, with Bakti Mulia, Masyarakat Sejahtera, Aspirasi Malaysia Madani.
Next, Shaiful Azaruddin Shaharuddin, a final-year student from our Seberang Jaya Learning Centre, was appointed Deputy President 2 for the Student Congress. This congress is a platform for medical assistant students from various government and private institutions to come together.
As the Programme Director for the BMHS programme, I was honoured to be awarded the title of Tokoh Pembantu Perubatan Harapan 2024, encouraging our efforts to provide exemplary leadership and guidance to future generations of medical assistants.
Our triumphs reaffirm OUM’s dedication to cultivating capable and competent medical assistants for Malaysia.
