Earlier this month, Kazakhstan buzzed with OUM energy! A delegation led by our President/Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato’ Dr Ahmad Izanee Awang, connected with university leaders, government officials, and industry partners to spark collaborations that truly make a difference.
A highlight was signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kazakh-American University (KAU), opening doors for student mobility, joint programmes, and digital learning in AI, Business, IT, and International Relations.
Initiatives range from virtual global classrooms to faculty training in digital content design. KAU will also adopt OUM’s Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning framework, recognising professional experience as academic credit and creating flexible pathways for adult learners.
In Astana, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Esil University paved the way for joint academic programmes, executive courses under CELL Plus, and research initiatives aligned with regional priorities. Both universities are building hybrid learning ecosystems powered by AI and advanced learning analytics, boosting access and outcomes for learners.
The visit hit a milestone with the launch of the OUM International Centre (OUMIC) in Astana by His Excellency Tuan Mohd Adli Abdullah, Malaysian Ambassador to Kazakhstan. As the first Malaysian university hub in the country, OUMIC will drive skills development, research, and lasting academic collaboration.
OUM’s thought leadership shone at the International Scientific and Practical Conference hosted by Esil University, where Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Mohd Tajudin Md Ninggal, Vice President/Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), shared insights on flexible digital learning, responsible AI, and research-driven innovation.
Discussions with Ambassador Tuan Mohd Adli Abdullah and Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education focused on student mobility, expanding partnerships, and collaboration in AI, tourism, law, teacher training, occupational safety, and business management.
These bold moves highlight OUM’s vision: accessible, tech-powered education with a global reach, connecting our university to Central Asia like never before.
