Welcome to the new CEO of the METEOR Group, Encik Farid Wajidi Mat Yusoff.
METEOR Group is the consortium of 11 public universities under which OUM was established.
On the morning of 3 June, as Encik Farid Wajidi Mat Yusoff walked in for his first day as the Group CEO, the very first person to greet him was his predecessor, Dato’ Naharudin Ali. It was a simple moment that reflected the Group’s culture of seamless continuity.
While the team is excited to welcome a new leader, it’s also the perfect time to look back at the remarkable impact left by Dato’ Naharudin.
Building the Foundation
Since stepping into the GCEO role in July 2023, Dato’ Naharudin led the Group through a major season of transformation. Under his watch, METEOR solidified its spot as an education and tech ecosystem – spanning OUM, METEOR Learning, METEOR Academy, Islah Education, EMTECH, and METEOR Properties. Together, these subsidiaries serve everyone from pre-schoolers to working professionals.
But his impact wasn’t just business-deep. Dato’ Naharudin cared deeply about the team, introducing initiatives like the wakalah assistance programme to support staff well-being. He didn’t just grow the company; he strengthened its core.
The Next Chapter
Stepping up to build on that strong foundation is Encik Farid Wajidi Mat Yusoff, bringing over 30 years of heavy-hitting experience across both the public and private sectors. His track record spans corporate leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management. Most recently, he was the Group Managing Director of USAINS Holding Sdn Bhd, where he successfully drove strategic growth and levelled up organisational governance.
