I found the OUM MBA programme to be relevant to my interest area. I work for a company in Sandakan that exports bird’s nests to China, and the programme helped me hone fundamental skills in systems management, logistics, marketing data analysis, documentation development, management, budgeting and strategic planning.
My studies also provided greater understanding of the way in which international businesses operate, and the complexities of export compliance, which are critical to our success in overseas markets.
For my thesis research, I reached out to swiftlet nest bird house owners in Sabah to understand how they operate and what is the most optimal way to make use of the raw edible bird nests that need to be exported to China, at the highest possible volume. It not only increased my research skills but also provided me a with a holistic view of the business and broadened my professional network.
The lecturers lent a huge supporting hand. Specialists in their respective areas, they always found time to share their insights and experience from work, which were invaluable. Their regular engagement made me feel better prepared and motivated.
One of the most memorable moments for me was OUM’s 28th Convocation in October last year. All my hard work and dedication paid off as I graduated with a high CGPA score.
I would say that the OUM MBA is very practical and relevant, regardless of your background or field, as it equips you with invaluable transferable knowledge and skills. It is also such a wonderful time of personal and professional growth, and the flexibility makes it so much easier to balance it with your work and other commitments. If you are ready to push yourself and elevate your career, I would highly recommend going for it.
